You may have done an activity such as a reading exercise where learners are asked to guess the meaning of a word or language from its context in the text. This is very similar but instead learners understand a text, in this case a walkthrough, in the context of the game itself and by playing it.

Preparation
Either cut and paste and then print a copy of a walkthrough to Samorost 2 or in the computer room guide learners to the following link. This copy (Samorost 2 Walkthrough) has considerably difficult language but can be more easily understood by playing the game at the same time.

Play
Instruct learners to look at the walkthrough and use it to complete the game. They should underline any difficult language and make a note of what they think it means by discovering how to play the game and how what they see on the screen is relevant to the instructions. Essentially they are working out the difficult language items by playing the game and assessing the narrative on screen elements and comparing it with the walkthrough.

Post Play
Learners compare their notes with other learners in the classroom.
